Monroe, WA – Valley General Hospital is proud to be a leader in health and wellness by becoming a tobacco-free campus on January 1, 2011.
The American Cancer Society is marking the 35th Great American Smokeout on November 18 by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit. We are pleased to use this day to announce our plans to join all other hospitals in Snohomish County as tobacco-free campuses.
“As a health care organization, we are committed to the wellness of our employees, patients and visitors. We believe we are responsible for a leadership role on this major health issue, and allowing people to smoke on our campuses defeats this purpose,” states Mike Liepman, CEO, Valley General Hospital.
Tobacco use of any kind will be prohibited on the hospital campus. Patients will have access to tobacco-alternative products and hospital employees will have resources available to them if they choose this as their time to quit using tobacco products all together.
