Monroe, WA – Valley General Hospital has appointed a new member to its Board of Commissioners – John Hinchcliffe, Battalion Chief – Snohomish Fire and Rescue.

Hinchcliffe applied to the position because, “I want to help Valley General Hospital make the right choices in planning for the future – expanding the services it provides while keeping the personal touch that is found here. I believe my past experiences in the field of pre-hospital medicine, and having both been a patient and employee at VGH qualify me to this issue.”

Hinchcliffe has lived in and around the Snohomish area for over 40 years. A graduated of Snohomish High School, he and his wife live in downtown Snohomish. ”My roots are here and I believe that Valley General Hospital is my community hospital.”

Hinchcliffe feels very strongly about “community.” Through his 25 years of fire service he has implemented many new programs and processes within Snohomish Fire and Rescue. He has served as Medical Services Officer for 23 years with Snohomish Fire and Rescue and has been a member of Valley General Hospital’s volunteer Community Advisor Committee in 2009.

“We see John as a great addition to our Board,” states Neil Watkins, VGH Board Chair. “He has a good point of view and will give excellent input to the issues facing Valley General.”

Hinchcliffe was appointed at the Valley General Hospital Board Meeting on November 11, 2009 after Dennis Dinkla, VGH Board of Commissioners resigned from his position on November 10, 2009. Dennis Dinkla, a longtime Snohomish veterinarian and community member served as VGH Commissioner for 18 years and will relocate with his wife later this winter to live closer to family.

Hinchcliffe will join Alice Cabe and Neil Watkins on Valley General Hospital’s Board of Commissioners.
