Monroe, WA – Valley General Hospital Foundation’s annual Classic Car raffle came to an end on September 4 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. This year the Foundation’s guest of honor was Mark Campbell, Fair Executive Director. He drew the winning ticket from the drum of nearly 9,000 tickets.

Rod Lofdahl of Everson, Washington is the proud winner of the “spectacular combination” of classic car and motorcycle. This year's prize was a 1949 fire-red Chevy truck and a 2006 Harley - Davidson Springer Softail in the bed of the truck. Lofdahl purchased only one $10 ticket at the Lynden Fair. Lofdahl felt compelled to purchase a ticket because it benefited such a great cause. “I was in disbelief when I first found out.” An avid motorcycle rider, Lofdahl has been riding bikes for over 20 years. This is the first time he had ever supported Valley General and entered to win a classic car.

This is the fourteenth annual Classic Car raffle for the Foundation. Each year the hospital Foundation acquires a classic car to raffle off. This year’s campaign began June 1, 2006 and commenced the last day of the Evergreen State Fair. This year’s raffle grossed upwards to $90,000. The Foundation has raised a total of over $1.3 million since the very first classic car raffle 1993.

Raffle proceeds are “undesignated funds” that benefit Valley General. The Valley General Hospital Foundation Board determines the use of raffle proceeds at their upcoming Board Retreat in November after review of the Hospital’s Capital Needs list. Funds have previously been used towards emergency department monitoring equipment, surgical services equipment, imaging equipment in the emergency department, uncompensated prescription program and staff continuing and education grants.
