Hospital Foundation Raffle Winner Receives Prize

Monroe, WA –Valley General Hospital Foundation’s annual Classic Car raffle came to an end on September 1, 2008 at the Evergreen State Fair. This year the Foundation’s guest of honor, Janie Botting, Foundation Raffle Committee Chair drew the winning ticket from the drum of nearly 12,000 tickets.

Richard Albro of Silverdale, Washington is the proud winner of 1964 Corvette StringRay. Richard purchased ten raffle tickets in February 2008. Richard has been showing his support of Valley General Hospital for the past ten years with his participation in the Foundation’s Annual Classic Car Raffle.

This is the sixteenth Annual Classic Car Raffle for the Foundation. Every year the hospital Foundation acquires a classic car to raffle off with proceeds to benefit Valley General Hospital. This year’s campaign began in February 2008 and commenced the last day of the Evergreen State Fair. The raffle grossed upwards to $120,000. The Foundation has raised a total of nearly $2 million since the very first Classic Car Raffle in 1993.

The Valley General Hospital Foundation Board decided this year that $50,000 of the raffle proceeds would provide the start up funding for the new comprehensive diabetes program at Valley General. This is the beginning of a three-year commitment to the diabetes program for the Foundation.

Funds have previously been used towards birth center, emergency department monitoring equipment, surgical services equipment, imaging equipment in the emergency department, uncompensated prescription program and staff continuing and education grants.
