Monroe, WA – John Okemah, MD, board-eligible in internal medicine, will be joining Sky River Internal Medicine, a Valley General Hospital clinic, in the Sky River Medical Center in September. “Education and preventive health care are very important to me as a doctor,” states Dr. Okemah. “One of my goals is to form good, trusting, respectful relationships with my patients, so I can assist my patients in making informed decisions about their health care.”

It is Dr. Okemah’s philosophy that he communicates effectively with his patients and discusses with them their complex health care issues in simple, understandable terms.
“I came to Monroe because it is clear that Valley General Hospital is providing for East Snohomish County a community of health care. A doctor couldn’t ask for anything more in an environment to practice medicine.”

Dr. Okemah was offered to join the practice after repeated growth since the practice opened with physician, Diane Doerner, MD in August 2005. “Sky River Internal Medicine has been a very successful endeavor for the hospital and has been widely accepted by the community,” states Mark Judy, CEO, Valley General Hospital. “It is our goal to provide needed physicians for our residents. We’ve searched for the past year for a physician to join Dr. Doerner. We were looking to provide the best; we believe Dr. Okemah is the perfect fit for this community and the clinic.”

Dr. Okemah is leaving his current position as Chief Medical Director for Tulalip Tribes Health Clinic and states that he is very excited about the opportunity to practice in the growing community.

Dr. Okemah grew up in Puyallup and attended Washington State University. He received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio where he served as Chief Resident. During his free time Dr. Okemah enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, cycling and running with his wife and two sons.

Sky River Internal Medicine Clinic is located at 14841 179th Ave SE, Suite 210.
