Monroe, WA – Valley General Hospital’s second quarter 2005 STARR (Special Talents Are Recognized and Rewarded) Award winner is George Partridge of Respiratory Care. This award is presented to a hospital employee based upon nominations from fellow employees, and the final selection is made by a committee comprised of volunteer hospital staff.

At the end of July celebration, VGH not only recognized an employee who gives fully of himself to his job, but also importantly, 100 percent of himself to the people he serves and works with. Many kind things were said about Partridge and the impact he has made in his 15 years of service at VGH. Partridge’s supervisor stated, “George is a strong patient advocate and is always looking and suggesting ways to improve patient care.” Partridge is also described as being, “a friend in the most important sense of the word – acting out his commitment as a friend, and not simply talking about what is right to do, but doing it.” Most of the time, when you see Partridge walking down the hallways at VGH, he’ll have a smile on his face and a sincere ‘hello’ to offer.

Partridge appreciates the personal sense of community he feels when he walks into work at VGH. He enjoys working in a community hospital because, “you feel like you are part of a family.” He is thankful that everyone looks out for one another, especially when times are tough.

The recipient of the quarterly award receives a STARR pin, day off with pay, $50 from the VGH Foundation, letter of recommendation from the VGH Board and a STARR certificate.
